Still Time To Get In New VGCC Art Class

A new summer art class gets under way Thursday, May 22, at Vance-Granville Community College, and interested persons can still begin on the second class night on May 29.

Dorothy Overby will teach a 30-hour class in the wet-on-wet technique of oil painting. Many people are familiar with this from seeing Bob Ross demonstrate it on public television.

“You begin by wetting your canvas with a medium, and then as you add your paints, they blend and their colors are softened,” said Overby. She is a Kittrell resident and veteran artist who has studied with many of the nation’s top painters and who is certified by Grumbacher and Winsor Newton and is a member of Teachers and Educators of Art Materials.

Overby’s oil painting class will be held on Thursdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in Building 5, Room 5230, on the VGCC main campus. Registration fee for the class is $37.50.

Prospective students may call 252-738-3316 for more information or attend the May 22 or May 29 class and register.
