VGCC, Chamber Sponsor Small Business Week Lunch

Vance-Granville Community College is teaming up with the Henderson-Vance County Chamber of Commerce to sponsor a lunch on Thursday, May 16, marking Small Business Week.

“Marketing Your Small Business” is the theme of the lunch, to begin at 12 noon at the Henderson Convention Center. The Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year will be announced at the lunch.

VGCC’s Small Business Center is sponsoring the lunch seminar, to be led by Mike Collins, president of The Perfect Workday Co. of Research Triangle Park.

Collins presents over 150 programs each year for groups as diverse as IBM, American Express, Pepsi Cola and the Duke University Medical Center. He is a frequent presenter for marketing workshops and seminars sponsored by the Small Business Center.

Mike specifically focuses on workplace effectiveness issues such as getting organized, negativity, communication, and managing multiple projects. His signature program is “The Perfect Workday”.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he has completed coursework at Oxford University and is currently at work on a master’s degree at Duke University.

Mike Collins’ business and entertainment articles have appeared in NEWSWEEK, AMERICAN BANKER, and BUSINESS: NORTH CAROLINA, in addition to many regional magazines. He is the author of three books and is currently writing Take Care of Yourself While Taking Care of Others, a book for professional and family caregivers.

“You Are The Key” will be the title of Collins’ remarks. He will discuss the only five resources successful business owners use, the three most successful types of one-on-one marketing, and the three realities of what customers want in tough times.
