Spring Photography Show Planned At VGCC

The Kerr Lake Art Society and Vance-Granville Community College will co-sponsor a photography show April 8-19 in the VGCC Civic Center. The event is open to anyone who would like to exhibit.

Three categories will be featured in the competition: black and white photography, color, and digital and computer generated photos.  Cash prizes will be given for first and second places in each division, and merchandise will be awarded for third.  Honorable mention will be noted at the judge’s discretion. The top three pieces in each category will compete for a  “Best in Show” award.

Show planners said that photographs entered must be no smaller than 5 x 7 inches and no larger than 16 x 20 inches. Each must be matted and framed (or framed only) and be equipped for hanging. Only photos that have not been entered in previous Kerr Lake Art Society shows will be accepted.

The cost for exhibiting will be $10 for three entries and $15 for five.

To enter the show, persons should obtain registration forms from either Marjorie Starrs at 252-492-8461 or Lelia Brigham at 252-492-5281. The forms should be filled out and brought with the show entries to the VGCC Civic Center on Friday, April 5, from 2 to 4 p.m., or Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to l p.m.  All work must be picked up on Friday, April 19, between 2 to 4 p.m. unless other arrangements are made prior to that date.  Photos that are not picked up will become the property of the art society.

All reasonable care will be taken in handling work submitted; however, no responsibility for theft or damage will be assumed by the art society or VGCC. Delivery of work to the show shall acknowledge agreement with these conditions.

For more information, interested persons should call either Starrs or Brigham.
