VGCC Franklin Campus Instructors Ride Bikes for a Good Cause

Two members of the faculty at Vance-Granville Community College’s Franklin County Campus recently participated in the local Tour de Grace. Pictured above (from left), Sue Guerrant, who teaches Office Administration and Information Systems courses, and Kendra Faulkner, a Computer Information Technology instructor, rode in the 29-mile charity bicycle race that toured through scenic Franklin County on April 24. Approximately 150 cyclists participated in the event. This was Faulkner’s second Tour de Grace and the first for Guerrant. Both expressed “exhilaration” upon crossing the finish line.

The Tour de Grace is part of the seventh annual Race of Grace Weekend, which also included events in Raleigh and Clayton. Donations from this year’s Race of Grace Weekend went toward the Franklin County Volunteers in Medicine Clinic, the Open Door Clinic Urban Ministries, and Project Access of Johnston County. The focus of the Race of Grace is to increase public awareness of those affected by hunger, homelessness, and a lack of adequate health care.

“I commend these women for their stamina and their involvement in the community, which is reflective of the outstanding support that our VGCC Franklin Campus faculty and staff show for Franklin County,” said Bobbie Jo May, the dean of the campus .
