VGCC South Campus schedules Variety of Summer Classes

Summer can be a time not only for relaxation but also for learning, thanks to several Vance-Granville Community College courses that are scheduled to begin soon at the college’s South Campus, located on N.C. 56 between Creedmoor and Butner.

The Human Resources Development (HRD) department will offer “Planning Your Career,” Monday-Thursday between 9 a.m. and noon, May 24 through July 28, as well as “Employment Training,” Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 until 4 p.m., June 7 through June 30. HRD classes are free to qualified applicants, including those who are unemployed.

Introduction to Spanish,” taught by Pat Neems, is scheduled for Tuesdays from 6 until 9 p.m., May 25 through July 20. The cost of the course is $65 plus applicable fees.

Training for Substitute Teachers will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 until 9 p.m., June 1 through July 1. Cheryl Coplin is the instructor for the course, which costs $120 plus applicable fees.

Photography: Basics and Beyond,” taught by Ivan Watkins, is scheduled for Tuesdays from 9 a.m. until noon, June 1 through June 29. The cost of the course is $55 plus applicable fees.

A course on creating “Art Journals,” with instructor Ophelia Steten, will be offered on Thursdays from 6 until 8:30 p.m., June 3 through July 1. The cost of the course is $49 plus applicable fees.

Donna Snipes will teach a class on Basic Sign Language on Mondays from 6 until 9 p.m., June 7 through Aug. 2. The cost of the course is $65 plus applicable fees.

Training to become a Notary Public will be held all day (8 a.m. until 5 p.m.) on Tuesday, Aug. 3. Charlene Spence is the instructor for the course, which costs $65 plus applicable fees and the cost of a textbook.
