VGCC Golf team ends regular season with strong showing

The Vance-Granville Community College men’s golf team wrapped up its 2010 regular season with a match on April 2 at Yadkin Country Club in Yadkinville. The host college was Surry Community College.

A team from Louisburg College came in first, with a team score of 315, but the VGCC squad posted a score of 335 for a strong second-place finish. Johnston Community College, Surry CC and another team from Louisburg placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

Shooting a 79, Michael Reese of Henderson had the best score among the Vanguards, with Tyler Woodside of Oxford close behind at 80. Others participating for VGCC included Tommy Overcash of Henderson, Daniel Schmoyer of Franklinton, Chris Dove of Wake Forest and Josh Lorenzo of Durham.
