VGCC Staff members earn Certification

Two members of the Vance-Granville Community College staff were recently awarded their Professional Standards Program (PSP) Certification at the 58th Annual Conference of the North Carolina Association of Educational Office Professionals. Mary H. McMannen of Oxford (pictured, right), an Accounting Technician in the VGCC Business Office, and Theodora G. Smith of Henderson (left), an Admissions and Records Assistant in Student Affairs, were both recognized at the NCAEOP conference, which was held March 18-20 in Greensboro.

To achieve this certification, participants must complete a minimum of 60 hours of in-service workshops; participate in association activities such as committee work or holding office at the local, district, state or national level; hold an A.A.S. Degree from a regionally accredited college or university; and fulfill various other requirements. Both Smith and McMannen are graduates of VGCC.

“Mary and Theodora both worked very hard to achieve this certification, and they represent VGCC well,” VGCC Controller Kathy Brafford said.
