Variety of courses available at VGCC South Campus

Several Vance-Granville Community College courses scheduled to begin in May at the college’s South Campus , located on N.C. 56 between Creedmoor and Butner, offer area residents the chance to learn new skills for on-the-job or personal use.

A “Certification Prep” class, the last course required for the Medical Coding program, will be offered May 4 through May 27 on Mondays and Wednesday evenings from 6 until 9 p.m. Frances Pettiford will teach the course, which helps students evaluate their readiness to sit for the medical coding certification exams. The cost of the course is $55.

Administrative Assistant Training” will be offered on Tuesdays from 6 until 9 p.m., May 12 through Aug. 4. Kathy Strickland will teach the course, which costs $60.

An “Introduction to Medical Front Office” work will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 until 9 p.m., May 21 through Aug. 4. The cost of the course is $60.

Patricia Neems will teach “Basic Workplace Spanish” on Thursdays, May 21 through July 30, from 6 until 9 p.m. The cost of the course is $55.

Ophelia Staton will teach a course on “Scrapbooking & Cardmaking” May 21 through June 25, Thursday evenings from 6 until 9 p.m. The cost of the course is $29.

A “Blueprint Reading” course will be held May 26 through June 30 on Tuesdays from 6 until 9 p.m. James Tunstall will teach the class, which costs $55.

Finally, Staton will also teach a course in which participants create “Art Journals,” combining written words with a splash of color. Students will use paints, pastels, watercolor pencils, and other tools to express themselves. Classes will be held May 26 through June 30 on Tuesdays from 6 until 9 p.m. The cost of the course is $29.
