VGCC Board Approves 2008-2009 Budget for College

The Vance-Granville Community College Board of Trustees held its bimonthly meeting on Monday, September 15 at the college’s Henderson campus.

During that meeting, Ninth District Superior Court Judge Henry W. Hight swore in retired educator Grace W. Vickery of Henderson for another four-year term on the Board. Appointed by the Governor, Vickery will serve though 2012.

Also during that meeting, the Board voted to approve the 2008-2009 Budget Resolution and Summary of Revenues and Expenditures. The college’s total 2008-2009 available funds are $35,440,756.

In other business, President Randy Parker reported to the Board that enrollment for fall 2008 at the college is up an estimated 7.8% over that of fall 2007. Final enrollment numbers for fall 2008 will be reported at the end of the semester.

President Parker also reported that the college continues to have excellent passing rates for students on certification exams. Final passing rates of 100 percent were reported for students in Radiography , Associate Degree Nursing (ADN), Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET), Detention Officer Certification and Criminal Justice Instructor Certification.

The next regular meeting of the Board will be held on Monday, November 17 at 7 p.m. in the board room on Main Campus.
