VGCC offers Floral Design course

Vance-Granville Community College will offer a course called “Fun in Floral Design” on Tuesday evenings from 6 until 9 p.m., September 7 through November 2, on the college’s main campus in Vance County.

Floral designer Christy White, owner of A Designing Mind, will be the instructor. She said that the class is “geared for learning the fundamentals of floral design, how to condition flowers, use floral foam, tape, and wire. You will also learn to create beautiful arrangements, including body flowers, fresh Christmas wreaths, fresh Christmas table centerpieces and fresh floral designs in a glass vase.” All students will be able to take home their floral designs. Projects are scheduled to include corsages, wristlets, and fall pumpkin arrangements.

“Whether you are a student who wants to begin your journey toward a Floral Designing career or one who wants to learn techniques for arranging flowers from the garden or from a shop, this class will provide the foundation for building basic floral design skills,” White said. “Get ready to have fun and be creative!”

The cost of the course is $77, plus a $3 campus access fee.
