Statewide TV Program visits VGCC; Community Invited to Observe

NC SPIN, considered the state’s leading public affairs television program, will return to Vance-Granville Community College on Tuesday, Feb. 26.

In 2006, Vance-Granville became the first community college to host the show.

A mock presentation of the panel discussion program will begin at 7 p.m. in the Civic Center on the college’s main campus in Henderson. The public is invited to attend. The event is sponsored by VGCC, the VGCC Endowment Fund, The Daily Dispatch and Prim Real Estate Rentals.

Believing there was a lack of in-depth, balanced presentation of North Carolina issues on television, NC SPIN was created to fill that void. Each week, four panelists representing a range of political philosophies engage in an unrehearsed 30-minute show dealing with issues that affect the people of North Carolina, like education, taxes, politics, race, transportation, and the economy. Called “the most intelligent half-hour on North Carolina television,” NC SPIN offers a lively discussion that combines current events with humor, controversy and common sense.

NC SPIN airs Sundays at 6:30 a.m. on WRAL-TV (Channel 5) and Sundays at 8:30 a.m. on WRAZ-TV (Fox50).

Tom Campbell, the creator, executive producer and moderator of NC SPIN, will lead the panel discussion at VGCC. Other panelists will include political consultant Theresa Kostrzewa; Chris Fitzsimon, the director of N.C. Policy Watch; John Hood, the president of the John Locke Foundation; and Rufus Edmisten, the former Attorney General and former Secretary of State for North Carolina.
