VGCC Small Business Seminar discusses Loan Approval

Vance-Granville Community College’s Small Business Center will present a free seminar, entitled “Getting Money for your Small Business,” on Thursday, September 13. The seminar will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in room 7107 of Building 7 on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County.

This workshop is led by Carolyn Perry, director of the Rural Economic Development Center’s N.C. Microenterprise Loan Program (NCMLP). The staff of the NCMLP developed the workshop targeting women, people of color and low income communities who cannot access traditional credit.

Perry will discuss how individuals can improve and increase their chances of credit approvals, and in particular business loan approvals. Participants will learn about the “Five C’s” of lending — credit, collateral, capacity, cash flow and character — and how and why these factors influence loan decisions.

VGCC Small Business Center Director Tanya Weary advised that space is limited for this free seminar. To reserve a seat, pre-register by calling the Small Business Center at (252) 738-3275 or 738-3240. Also, Facebook users can now register for Small Business Center seminars online by going to www.facebook.com/vgccsmallbusinesscenter .
