VGCC Offers Computer Class for Beginners

Vance-Granville Community College will offer a six-week course on the college’s main campus in Vance County, designed for people who have little or no experience using computers or the Internet.

The course will be held on Wednesdays, Aug. 13 through Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

In the “Beginner’s Guide to Computers & the Internet” class, Microsoft Windows XP will be used to introduce novice students to the common components and many uses of personal computers through the Windows environment. Students will create, edit and save a simple document, learn basic file management, utilize built-in Windows accessories, locate and change basic configuration settings, and learn the process of sharing data (cutting and pasting). In addition, students will explore web sites by using a browser, learn how to access information on the Internet by using search engines, and send and receive e-mail messages.

The cost of the course will be $59.
