Computer Classes Scheduled at VGCC Warren Campus

Two courses offered being offered this summer at Vance-Granville Community College’s Warren County Campus help area residents develop the basic computer skills they need to succeed in the 21st-century economy.In the “Beginner’s Guide to Computers & Internet” class, students will use Microsoft Windows XP to introduce them to the common components and many uses of personal computers through the Windows environment. Additionally, students will explore internet web sites by using a browser, learn how to access information on the Internet by using search engines, and send and receive email messages. This course will be offered on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on the Warrenton campus, from June 19 through July 31.A second course will focus on Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, two of the most popular and widely used components of the Microsoft Office 2003 suite. This course will teach the basics of both programs. Students will create, revise, and save documents for printing and future retrieval in the word processing portion of the class. In Excel, students will create, edit, format, and print Excel worksheets and learn the basics of formula construction. This course will be held on Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. on the Warrenton campus, from June 14 through July 26.The cost for each course is $55, plus a $3 technology fee.
