VGCC Offers Medication Aide Course at Franklin Campus

Vance-Granville Community College will soon offer a course at its Franklin County Campus that allows local residents to qualify as a Medication Aide. Classes will be held on the campus, located on N.C. 56 just west of Louisburg, over five consecutive days — Monday, May 7 through Friday, May 11, from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.To register for the course, a student must have a high school diploma or GED and must be listed on the North Carolina Nurse Aide Registry as a CNA I in good standing. Students who successfully complete the course will be able to take a state exam and qualify to be listed on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry. Medication Aides pass medications in settings such as home-health agencies and skilled nursing facilities under the direction of a Registered Nurse.Registration for this class will be held on April 30 at 3:30 p.m., and on May 7 at 8 a.m. The cost for this course is $55, plus $9 for a textbook.
