VGCC Course focuses on Using Computers at the Office

An upcoming computer class at Vance-Granville Community College focuses on skills needed for working in an office setting. “The Office Assistant course is an excellent class for job seekers who need basic computer skills,” according to VGCC Occupational Extension Computer Center coordinator Laura Peace.

The course will begin Tuesday, March 25, in room 7136 on the college’s main campus in Vance County. After the first week, the class will meet Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m. until 12:00 noon, through May 16.

Instructor Hart Gardner will help students improve their keyboarding skills, develop effective basic computer knowledge using Windows, explore the Internet, and learn the various components of Microsoft Office, including the basics of Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Database and PowerPoint.

The registration cost is $65, plus a $3 technology fee.
