VGCC Students Collect Food Donations for ACTS

For the first time, the Vance-Granville Community College chapter of Phi Theta Kappa recently organized a canned food drive at the college’s main campus to support Area Christians Together in Service (ACTS), a non-profit organization in Henderson. Pictured above from left, Rebecca Dangora, a VGCC Accounting student from Henderson, and Tina Owens of Durham, a Radiography student, display some of the food collected during the drive. Among those heavily involved in the drive, but not pictured, were students Jessica Montez, Alice Elliott and Patricia Eberbach, the chapter president. Dangora, one of the vice presidents of the Phi Theta Kappa chapter, said that she was encouraged by the results of this first drive and she hoped that it would lead to even more service projects in the future. Currently, the organization is also raising funds for Relay for Life.Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society for two-year colleges.
