VGCC Schedules Dining Etiquette Course

Vance-Granville Community College will offer a course entitled “The ABC’s of Dining” at the college’s main campus in Vance County in April.Constance Lue, the course’s instructor, noted that “to be well-rounded, a successful person needs to know the basics of etiquette and dining manners.” Lue said that students would take away practical information that could be useful in various business or social settings. She also suggested that knowledge of table manners can give a candidate an edge in a lunchtime job interview, and similar training can help anyone compete in the global economy.“This course will be a lot of fun, and we allow for mistakes,” Lue said. “The point is to make you more comfortable, so you can put on your best ‘you’ while dining.”The class will meet three times (April 23, April 25 and April 27) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The course’s equivalent of a final exam will be an actual business lunch at an area restaurant. The cost of the course is $30, plus the cost of the business lunch. A book by etiquette expert Dorothea Johnson and transportation to the lunch will be provided. For more information and to register, call Donna Dodson at (252) 738-3316.
