VGCC Prepares Students to become Licensed General Contractors

Vance-Granville Community College’s Small Business Center will offer a course that prepares area residents for the General Contractors’ licensing exam. Classes will be offered in room 7104 on the college’s main campus in Vance County, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 16 through Dec. 2, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Bruce Daniel will instruct the 66-hour class, which will emphasize the types of questions found in the blueprint section of the residential building exam given by the N.C. Licensing Board for General Contractors . The course will also review the laws and regulations applicable to general contractors, and it will cover employment security laws and worker’s compensation. There will be lectures, study questions, practice problems and exams.

The cost of the class is $60, plus the cost of the textbook (Residential Code Book 7). To pre-register, call the Vance-Granville Small Business Center at (252) 492-2061, extension 3275 or 3240.
