VGCC offers Training for Non-profit Board Members

Vance-Granville Community College’s Small Business Center will present a free seminar to train board members of non-profit organizations on Tuesday, Sept. 16. The seminar will be held from 9 a.m. until noon in room W432 on the college’s Warren County Campus.

Attendees will learn why non-profit boards exist, the ten basic responsibilities of non-profit boards, the difference in the roles of board and staff, and the legal aspects of board service. Tips on fundraising and leadership are also included.

The seminar will be led by Denise Ryan, who holds an M.B.A. and is the founder of Raleigh-based FireStar. Ryan has ten years of non-profit experience.
