VGCC Offers Seminar on National Electrical Code

Vance-Granville Community College’s Small Business Center will present a course starting Tuesday, Oct. 17, entitled “Understanding and Using the NEC.” The National Electrical Code, or NEC, is a standard for the safe installation of electrical wiring and equipment. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays through Nov. 2 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Room 7107 of Building 7 on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County.

This course can be used for continuing education credits and for obtaining an electrical license. It meets the requirements of the North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors for 24 contact hours of continuing education credit, although it is not sponsored by the Board itself. Daniel J. Thomas, Jr. will serve as instructor for the course.

Participants should plan to bring a copy of the 2005 NEC, a calculator, a note-pad and a three-ring binder.

The cost of the course is $55. For more information and to sign up, call the Small Business Center at (252) 492-2061, ext. 3239.
