VGCC Offers Basic Welding course

Vance-Granville Community College’s Franklin County Campus in Louisburg will offer Basic Welding classes starting in December. The 36-hour occupational extension course will be held at the Franklin County Campus from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturdays, Dec. 2, 2006 through Jan. 20, 2007.Russell Wahrman, a certified Welding instructor, will teach the course, which will include instruction on oxyacetylene welding, cutting operations, basic arc welding, and safety. Wahrman is also an inspector with over 25 years of domestic and international experience. Students will gain basic knowledge of welding and will be able to apply this to employment as a welder or as a hobby. The cost of the class will be $60.Franklin Campus Assistant Director Anthony Pope advised that the class is limited in size and will fill up quickly.
