VGCC invites high school seniors to FAFSA Day Feb. 23

Registration is now open for FAFSA Day 2013, a statewide event that will be hosted locally on the Main Campus of Vance-Granville Community College on Saturday, Feb. 23.

On FAFSA Day, college financial aid officers and other volunteers provide free help to North Carolina high school seniors and their families to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms at numerous locations across the state.

FAFSA forms are the standard forms required for federal and state need-based aid and for consideration for many other scholarships and grant opportunities. High school seniors who plan to attend college anywhere during the upcoming 2013-2014 academic year are encouraged to attend FAFSA Day at VGCC.  Meanwhile, returning VGCC students are encouraged to visit the Financial Aid Office for assistance with their FAFSAs at any time.

FAFSA Day is a program co-sponsored by the College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC), North Carolina Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NCASFAA) and the State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU), and has been offered each February since 2001. Last year, more than 4,700 students and families received help at hundreds of locations across the state. This year, nearly 70 campuses, including VGCC, will host the program with support from hundreds of NCASFAA members. SECU sites will be open to the public in those counties where a campus is not hosting a FAFSA Day program. In counties with campus FAFSA Day sites, SECU branches will be open to Credit Union members only.

VGCC will hold FAFSA Day on the second floor of Building 7 on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County.Registration in advance is strongly encouraged. Students can learn more about FAFSA Day, what to bring and how to register by visiting CFNC.org/fafsaday or by calling toll free 866-866-CFNC.
