VGCC Drama Students To Stage Comedy/Thriller In Mid-March

Drama students at Vance-Granville Community will stage “The Praying Mantis” March 13-15 in the campus auditorium (Room 2105).

Theatre Arts Instructor Betsy Henderson describes the play by de Alejandro Sieveking as a “psychological thriller/black comedy.”     

Students will be responsible for staging the play, both in front and behind the lights. Laura McDonald, John Westbrook, Suzannah Price, Blakely Chorpenning and Will Reynolds will have acting roles. Students behind the scenes are Joe Scott, assistant director; Michael Flynn, stage manager; Joshua McCrimmon, light and sound operator; Ladonna Campbell, head of props; and Renee’ Desha, assistant prop crew.

“This is a very ambitious project, and we are very excited about sharing our work with everyone,” Henderson said. “We hope lots of people will come share an evening with us; this is a play that is sure to please.”

“The Praying Mantis” will begin at 8 p.m. each evening. All tickets are general admission at $5 each.
