Spring Continuing Education Classes Start Early In January
Continuing Education courses begin at varying times throughout the Spring Semester with some classes beginning as early as Jan. 3 and others not starting until early in May.
Registration procedures for the various Continuing Education programs offered by Vance-Granville Community College vary according to the program area.
VGCC’s Continuing Education department provides an opportunity for adults to meet a variety of objectives through short courses.
Students take Continuing Education courses to:
- Improve their ability to read, speak and write the English language;
- Finish high school;
- Obtain pre-employment training in order to find a job;
- Upgrade and update skills used in a present job in order to increase abilities and future opportunities;
- Improve personal and family life;
- Learn new hobbies and skills for greater enjoyment of leisure time.

Among VGCC’s opportunities through Continued Education are computer software training courses; classes specifically designed for small businesses, occupational training and industry needs; law enforcement, emergency medical training, detention officer and firefighter courses; training for nursing assistants; programs that will assist students in earning their high school equivalency and learning basic skills; classes in English as a second language; courses to help students get on track for jobs; and classes for personal enrichment.
Continuing Education courses are offered on a semester basis or as needed. Classes are scheduled when a need for a class is established, space exists to teach the class, and an instructor is available.
